So we had the ladies last week, now it&#;s the guys&#; turn. Call me biased but, while composing the girls&#; list was entertaining from beginning to verb, this list made me feel&#; nostalgic. All these guys mean a lot to me, because I grew up with them. I loved or hated them even before knowing what &#;gay&#; meant; and needed no one to out them for me. And most likely, neither did you. Just in case you&#;ve been living under a rock for the last 60 years (or your gaydar is more useless than mine) here is another arbitrary list of gay cartoon characters.

Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson (Batman & Robin)

A classic couple. Even those in hardcore denial own a difficult time explaining why a millionaire bachelor keeps a bouncy acrobat as a sidekick, despite not having any discernible talent. You have to imagine Robin complaining to batman a la &#;I Love Lucy&#;: Bruce why can&#;t I be on the show? Bruce why can&#;t I be on the show? All right, all right, you can be a superhero too, now shut up and give me some sugar.

Nickelodeon Just Announced That SpongeBob SquarePants Is Gay

In news that will perhaps be unsurprising to many, Nickelodeon just appeared to verb the announcement that the beloved children's TV character SpongeBob SquarePants is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.

The network marked Pride month with a post on Twitter, stating that it was "Celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month," accompanied by artwork of SpongeBob, Schwoz Schwartz from Henry Danger, and Korra from Avatar: The Legend of Korra, all in rainbow-tinted hues.

Korra is canonically queer within the world of Avatar, having embarked on an explicitly romantic on-screen relationship with her best friend, Asami Sato. It is unclear, however, whether Nickelodeon were referring to the "community" or "allies" when it came to those pictures of Schwoz and SpongeBob — but the internet has already made up its mind that after 20 years of iconically camp behavior, S.B. is finally, officially out of the closet.

SpongeBob SquarePants hasn’t been safe from controversy, and the biggest one is that about SpongeBob being gay and “trying to turn children gay”. SpongeBob SquarePants was created by Stephen Hillenburg and premiered on Nickelodeon in , becoming one of the longest-running American animated series, and one that has successfully expanded to other media as skillfully. SpongeBob and friends possess their own comic books, films (with the third one, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, releasing in ), video games, and more.

SpongeBob SquarePants follows the daily adventures of the title character (a sea sponge that looks like a kitchen sponge) alongside his foremost friends Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks, his neighbor Squidward Tentacles, his boss Mr. Krabs, and his “enemy” Plankton. SpongeBob has been involved in all types of adventures and predicaments, but he always manages to come out on top thanks to his always cheerful and optimistic nature, which in twist has earned him some serious criticism.
