Since , when the city of Paris hosted the Gay Games, and the municipality supported this sporty and festive operation, the streets of the Marais district display rainbow flags everywhere. Street signs also present the colors of the gay flag and crosswalks have been transformed into rainbow crossings, only in some streets and adjacent historical LGBT places, successfully those that have survived, because they are, as in all Western capitals, less and less numerous. 9 AM. The best way to fetch around the Marais, if not on foot, is by bike. You can rent a bike by the day or by the week at Paris Bike Tour or apply Velib, the municipal system, or the free-floating rental companies. Don't park just anywhere, respect the red lights and use the spaces dedicated to this use. Paris is not yet Amsterdam and Parisians are not very attentive with cyclists!

Gay bars in Le Marais are part of the fun, they all have a other style, always busy, some of them disappeared in the past 5 years due to the incredidible rise of real estate prices in the Marais. They are often replaced by chic boutiques that makes a strange mixity. Still the Marais keeps its soul and we, at PARISMARAIS support the global diversity of the area. After the covid crisis, more bars hold closed down, but many are resisting, some trying to seduce a modern clientele.
Size matters - and timetable matters too! People don't go to the same places at the same time, so be sure to follow our recommendations for the right time to go out.
