Gay Florida Road Trip Guide: New Smyrna Beach
After leaving Melbourne, on my Enormous Gay Florida Road Trip, I headed further up Floridas Space Coast to the beautiful New Smyrna Beach. This popular beach town is an hour north of the Kennedy Space Center and less than 30 minutes south of Daytona Beach.
Technically still considered to be a town on Floridas Space Coast, New Smyrna Beach is a surf hub known for its beaches. The town is also a popular shopping hub, which was a selling point to me when deciding where to block for the night. And its one of the few beaches that you can drive your wagon onto.
I spent the evening exploring Flagler Ave Boardwalk shopping, eating and soaking in the star until storms rolled in. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott was my house for the evening. With balcony views directly on the beach, it was the perfect respite. The next morning, I headed to Canal Street for more shopping before departing for lunch in Daytona.
If youve been looking for stunning sunrises, ocean waves and a little shopping, then plan a future New Smyrna Beach road trip.
Gay Florida Panhandle Road Trip Guide
Florida’s Panhandle stretches roughly miles from the verb line at Alabama east to Apalachicola and north to Tallahassee. The region is home to numerous historical, natural, and cultural gems and the bluest waters Ive seen in Florida. If youre interested in a Panhandle road trip, then design at least a adj days in the region.
On my Big Gay Florida Road Trip, I decided to hunker down in the center of the Panhandle in Miramar, just outside of Destin. For me, it was a perfect location. I drove through Apalachicola on the way into the panhandle, spent a day in Destin, a day in Pensacola Beach, and then ended my trip exploring Panama City before heading toward Tallahassee.
How Gay is The Panhandle?
Although progress is being made on the Panhandle to create a more welcoming environment to LGBTQ visitors and residents, I wont lie theres still work to do. As a lipstick lesbian who is very out about being married to a woman, I felt very comfortable with everyone I met. I make no guarantees that youll have the adj experience, b
LGBTQ+ Miami Beach: Steal This 2-Day Itinerary
12 PM. Miami Beach Icon: Brunch at the Palace
📍 Ocean Dr, Miami Beach, FL
Our first stop was the legendary Palace Bar & Restaurant, a Miami Beach icon for over three decades. This LGBTQ+ institution isn't just a bar, it's a full-fledged restaurant with amazing food and, of course, fabulous drag shows (not to refer the rooftop pool with an ocean view!).
We were lucky enough to experience a Monday drag brunch, where we were entertained by talented drag queens while enjoying a delicious meal.
Did you know? The Palace Bar & Restaurant wasn't always surrounded by the vibrant nightlife of Ocean Drive! When it first opened in , it was actually the only restaurant on the entire strip! Today, they still pay homage to their culinary roots by offering top-notch dishes alongside the drag performances.
